Fasting and prayer for the Salvation of Children and Family- Isaiah 55:10-11

Promise for this week:

“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater,
11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me [a]void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it (Isaiah 55:10-11).

God gave us His Word with a specific purpose: It testifies of Him. That testimony transforms, invigorates, gives life, restores, illuminates, brings hope and prepares us for the heavenly home. How often do you share His Word with those you wish to see in Heaven? Today it is easier than ever. There is no excuse.

Share, share, share…

Share a portion of the Word daily with your family. Even those who seem uninterested will benefit from a promise, a counsel or a story, if you share it in the moment appointed by God. Pray to know what and when to share. Then, remember that His Word will not return empty. It will, little by little, but persistently press on. Soon, those hardened hearts will become sensitive and responsive to the heavenly call because the light from the throne of grace reached that heart! Praise the Lord!

My prayer

Dear heavenly Father:

I thank you for the power of your Word. Teach me which portion of, how and when to share your Word. May each heart of those I love respond to your call. Work your will in each heart, so that your Word does not return void. I thank you for your promise and for the work it will do in my heart and in each member of my family. I pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.

PLEASE, SHARE THIS PROMISE, THAT IT MAY BECOME A BLESSING IN YOUR FAMILY AND MANY MORE FAMILIES.

This prayer initiative is not done by chance.  Each week we set aside this time to fast and pray specifically for this purpose.

Who? We invite YOU. Join us in prayer and fasting for our children and family.

When?  Each Friday, from 1:00 pm, up to Sabbath at 1:00 pm.

How? After our lunch on Friday, we start fasting: We skip our Friday supper and we also skip breakfast on Sabbath morning. We finish our fast on Sabbath at 1:00 pm (just in time to have the Sabbath lunch with our friends and family!).

NOTE: You can adjust this to your medical needs. One may opt to partially fast by drinking only natural fruit juices or by eating some raw fruit instead of abstaining from food. But it is important that we unite in prayer for our purpose.

Tips for this special time:

  • Silently study today’s Bible verse (s).
  • Set aside different times throughout the day/night to talk to God regarding your loved ones and those you wish to see in heaven. Prayerfully ask the Lord to fulfill this specific promise in your own life and in the lives of your loved ones.
  • Please, remember there are many more united in prayer for this purpose. When you pray, please include a request for all the families united in this endeavor.
  • You may want to write this weekend’s Bible verse(s) and place it where it is visible, as a personal reminder.
  • When it is time to end the fasting (In time for Sabbath lunch with the family, thank God for the victory that He will give to your family and the rest of the families united in prayer.

Remember: We can achieve victory through prayer.

May the Lord bless you abundantly and grant you the requests of your heart according to His promise and great mercy.

Fasting & Prayer for the Salvation of our Children & Family-Luke 5:10

In every area of life it is great to work when we can see the fruit of our labor. But working without achieving something tangible is not fun, but frustrating. The Bible tells us about a situation like this. You can read it in Luke 5:1-11.

Para leer esto en ESPAÑOL, pulse aquí.

At daybreak Jesus returned from a peaceful time along the lake shore. The multitude gathered, seeking to hear the Master. The disciples had just returned from a fruitless night of labor.

Peter had John, the Baptist on his mind, now in jail. Following Jesus was a great challenge, as the religious leaders were opposing his ministry. To make things worse, this time, not even his work as an experienced fisherman, brought him gain. His heart harbored a whirlpool of thoughts and emotions, fatigue, doubts, frustrations, longings, and the need for provision was tangible, as this was his source of income to provide for his family.

Jesus, in the boat, asked Peter to row the boat a little away from the shore, and from there, he spoke to the anxious crowd, hungry for words of life. Once finished he asked Peter to row into the deep water and let his nets down. This and more might have crossed the mind of the disciples:

—Are you serious?

—In plain daylight?

—Have you forgotten this is not the best time to even try?

A statement of faith!

Exhausted and empty-handed, Peter decided to believe Jesus and trust his word.

“Master,” Simon answered, “we have worked hard all night long and have not caught a thing. But if you tell me to, I will let the nets down” (Luke 5:5).

Lessons woven in the nets

What followed was a wonderful manifestation of the divine power, that gave the disciples the assurance that who was in front of them:

  • Is the Son of God.
  • Knows the longings of their heart.
  • Has the power to work in the most adverse situations.
  • Is able to meet ALL of their needs.
  • Hears and answers the cry of their hearts.
  • Loves them profoundly.
  • In the life of those who obediently follow his leading, Christ has the last word!

Promise for this week:

“Jesus told Simon, “Don’t be afraid! From now on you will bring in people instead of fish” (Luke 5:10, last part)

You might find yourself tired, frustrated, and hopeless. Maybe you are watching your most treasured dreams vanish like fog when the sun shines. Instead of spiritual progress in those for whom you are praying for, does it seem like they are further away, less interested, more into so many other things?

Jesus has the last word!

Like Peter, you and I need to work by faith in the Word of God. Not by sight, but by faith. Not because we saw a positive indicator, but because Jesus said that you and I should labor.

Just like the net did not emerge from the water empty, God’s Word will not return void. Jesus told Peter, and all of his disciples across all ages:  “Don’t be afraid! From now on you will bring in people instead of fish.”

I personally choose to believe Jesus’ words. I choose to continue praying until I see my net full and overwhelmed by God’s manifestation of power, working in answer to our submission and obedience.

My prayer: Dear heavenly Father, you are faithful. Your Word is truth! Although I may have worked fruitlessly, I believe in you. I thank you for your promise. Fill me with the Holy Spirit and use me as a fisher of men. I thank you because those you have given me, and many others, will come to Jesus’ feet; for in His name I pray and let the net down, Amen.

PLEASE, SHARE THIS PROMISE, THAT IT MAY BECOME A BLESSING IN YOUR FAMILY AND MANY MORE FAMILIES.

Fasting & Prayer for the Salvation of our Children and Family-Psalm 16:11

Promise for this week:

You reveal the path of life to me;

in your presence is abundant joy;

at your right hand are eternal pleasures (Psalm 16:11).

To read this in Spanish, click here.

What is your greatest delight?

Did you wake up today with a note of thanksgiving and praise to the Lord?

The life  of a christian should be the happiest life!

Do we live times of sorrow and pain? Sure! Do we get sick? We do!

Some give the impression that being a christian has a requirement of displaying a somber and upset countenance. Nevertheless, walking with Christ gives us the greatest reason to live radiantly, with the genuine joy of the salvation that He conquered for us at the cross.

If God has revealed to us the path of life  our joy is genuine and abundant, for our delight is to be with Christ. He gives us his life. He gives us his peace. He blesses us that we may become a blessing to others. He left us promises that encourage us even while facing adverse situations. Even though we see evil, even though we experience suffering, having Christ in our heart is the greatest reason for joy.

To consider:

  • What role does Christ play in my life?
  • What does  my family see in me that may attract them to an intimate relationship with Jesus?

My prayer
Dear heavenly Father,

I thank you for Jesus and the delight it means to know Him. I thank you for the joy that only He brings to my life. Forgive me for the times I have failed to look at your face and I represented you falsely, with my lack of gratitude, my doubt, my disobedience and my sin. Help me to stay in the light of your presence so that the trials can’t fog my vision nor my understanding of what it means to be a believer, a Christian, one that walks in your presence. Give me the opportunity to reflect Jesus appropriately every moment, everywhere, that others may also find their delight in you. Bless my children and my family; and do not let me be a hindrance for their relationship with you.

In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

PLEASE, SHARE THIS PROMISE, THAT IT MAY BECOME A BLESSING IN YOUR FAMILY AND MANY MORE FAMILIES.

Fasting and Prayer for the Salvation of our Children and Families-2 Peter 3:9

Promise for this week:

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9, KJV).

Time is a precious treasure that many disregard.  There are many who believe our faith has no foundation, because Jesus has still not come for the second time. But God is transparent: His delay is for no other reason than His great love for you and me. Do we appreciate his long-suffering? Do we realize how merciful He is?

We should look at each new day we have as a valuable opportunity to surrender to the Holy Spirit’s leading so that He will correct every defect in our character, and to encourage those we want to see in heaven, to seek Jesus.

Let us pray, let us fast, but let us surrender our will to God. With all our heart let us seek to be more like Jesus in everything. Then, we will see a true interest in those that once seemed indifferent to the heavenly invitation, for they will see Jesus in us.

Fasting and Prayer for our Children and Families

My prayer:

Dear heavenly Father:

I thank you for this new day and the opportunity you give me to realize how far I am from reflecting Jesus. Forgive me. Take my heart and make it your dwelling. Help me live this day to be more like Jesus and let others know that you have been patient because you long to save us. I plea that your Holy Spirit will  touch the heart of every member of my family and that they will not delay in giving their lives to you. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Fasting & Prayer for the Salvation of our Children & Family-James 5:16

This week’s promise:

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. (James 5:16, KJV).

Para leer esto en Español, pulse aquí.

There is a highly important work which cannot be ignored without eternal consequences: To help restore peace and harmony in the family.

We must be humble and realize we have failed in multiple instances. When parents have the courage to recognize their faults before their children and with sincereness ask God and their children for their forgiveness, the door for the work of the Holy Spirit in the heart of each family member opens up.  Our children are waiting to see that the work of Christ in their parent’s lives is real.

Each unconfessed fault is a barrier for their relationship with the Savior.

If more parents had the courage to humble themselves before God and to admit their faults in their relationship with their children, we would see more prodigal sons return to the Father’s house.

If not before, friday, before sundown, we should take care of any misunderstandings and all differences.

What should I confess before my children and family? Each attitude, action or omission that negatively affected his/her life. Reflect on the following questions:

  • Did I give a bad example in words, actions or attitude?
  • Did I judge wrongly? Did I believe his/her words?
  • Did I lack the courage to speak in the appropriate moment? Or did I speak at an inappropriate time?
  • Did I discipline or punished you unjustly?
  • Did I speak words that didn’t build you up?
  • Did I refuse your affection at any time?
  • Did I display favoritism?

Only the Holy Spirit can reveal the true condition of our heart and what is it that we must confess before our children and family. Let us ask God to reveal it. The recognition of our fault should bring us to ask God and those who we have wronged for forgiveness. God gives us the courage to confess and enables us to pray with those we’ve hurt and seek His  and their forgiveness. heaven rejoices with each opportunity to touch hearts with God’s forgiving and restoring grace. let us allow the Holy Spirit to work great victories in our family as we obey God’s Word.

My prayer: Dear heavenly Father, Thank you for inviting me to admit my faults before you and before those I’ve hurt. I thank you for the grace you give me to ask your forgiveness and their’s, as well. I thank you for you heal our wounds and you work great victories in answer to prayer. In the name of  Jesus I pray, Amen.

Fasting & Prayer for the Salvation of our Children & Families-Isaiah 54:13

Time is elusive

Parents witness time fly by and how fast children grow. Are your children home or have they grown and left the nest? Do you regularly study the Word of God with them? Is this time the best part of their day?

Quality Time

Your children need to be shaped by the Word of God.

  • Talk with them about the things of eternal value.
  • Help them create a time slot in their daily schedule to study the Bible.

Textbook par excellence

The Bible is the most excellent text book. Only the Bible prepares us for life here and for eternity. You are the instrument chosen by God to help them love the Bible as their favorite book. Make the Bible study time an interesting one. Think about their preferences and interests, and use Bible stories to instill in them the eternal values.

Do you have an empty nest?

If they are no longer home,

  • Ask God for more opportunities to talk with them about the eternal home.
  • Use technology to share jewels from the Word of God.
  • Share Bible verses that have strengthened your walk with the Lord.
  • Help them find a promise that relates to their individual challenges.

When the Bible is valued in the home, it exerts a holy influence. It’s advice will follow our children long after they have left their childhood home. Don’t you ever get tired of praying and working hand in hand with God in the salvation of your family.

My prayer: Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for your Word. Give me the perseverance and the wisdom I need to share your Word in an interesting way with my family. I thank you in advance for the opportunities that you will help me take advantage of, and I thank you for the promised blessing. Thank you for the peace that surrounds our lives and for your work of salvation in each member of my family. In the name of  Jesus I pray, Amen.
